What are foam trapezoids used for?

The most common use of a foam trapezoid is dining room chair cushions. Most dining room chair cushions are less wide in the back and wider in the front. Normally a dining room chair cushion in a trapezoid shape is one or two inches thick.

Trapezoid foam is also used in bay windows, again, because the back width isn’t as wide as the front width. Some bay windows require three cushions that could be a combination of three trapezoids if the sides butt up at a forty-five-degree angle.

Another use is in automobiles. Manufacturers of automobiles have made their seats uncomfortable and too low in height for the average user. Trapezoid foam cushions can be used as car seat foam padding to elevate the driver while providing comfort.

What is the most common foam used in foam trapezoid shapes?

High Resilience foam for dining room chair pads is one of the most comfortable and longest-lasting foam available. In dining room chair seat padding, the High Resilience foam performs best in a firm firmness at two inches thick. This will provide excellent support and should prevent the cushion from bottoming out. For heavier-set people, the firmness should be increased from firm to extra firm to prevent the cushion from bottoming out.

Bay window foam padding is not used as often as dining room chair seat foam, making the High-Density foam type a more commonly used foam. This foam provides good comfort and support at an economical price point. If the bay window cushions are often used, then High Resilience foam would still be the recommended choice. Bay window foam padding in High-Density foam is also best in a firm firmness at two inches in thickness and extra firm for heavier set users.
