T-Cushion

T-cushions are designed to be slotted into the base of a chair and snugly wrapped around it, with the arms of the cushion wrapped around the base of the armrest. If the foam is for furniture that does not get much use, lower-grade foam such as industrial-grade High-Density foam would be a cost-effective option. If the foam insert is for the family room that gets a lot of use, then High Resilience or Qualux foam is the best foam option. Weight is also important to consider. The heavier the individual, the firmer the foam should be. The industry standard is a medium-firm firmness. People weighing 200 pounds or more should choose a firmer option so the foam can support the weight and not bottom out.

Here is a quick overview of the various foams available:

Recommended:

• Qualux Foam: A grade above High Resilience foam. Premium quality foam that is used in top-end upholstery cushions.
• High Resilience Foam: A grade above Lux foam. Excellent quality foam that is used in top-end upholstery cushions.
• Lux Foam: A grade above High Density foam. It is a very good quality foam for upholstery cushions.
• Blue Foam: A Grade above Conventional Foam. Good quality foam with a blue color aesthetic. Available in medium-firm firmness. Good price-to-performance ratio for upholstery cushions.
• High Density Foam: A grade above Conventional foam. Good price-to-performance ratio for upholstery cushions.
• Dry Fast Foam: Often used in outdoor furniture because of its open-cell porous construction.
• Dunlop Latex Foam: Premium quality Dunlop Latex rubber foam that is used in top-end upholstery cushions, providing excellent comfort, airflow, and durability.
• Rebond Foam Light: Durable and capable of withstanding moderate to heavy use without losing its structural integrity and ensures it maintains its shape and support over time. With a medium-firm feel, it provides a balanced combination of support and comfort.

Not Recommended:

The foam listed below is not recommended for T-cushions.

• Soft Foam: Recommended for sofa back cushions. Excellent quality foam that is available in a very soft firmness (ILD 10). It will provide similar softness to Memory foam but will have the bounce-back of High Resilience foam.
• Conventional Foam: Inexpensive medium-quality foam that is recommended for sofa back cushions. A grade above Polyurethane foam.
• Polyurethane Foam: The cheapest foam we offer. Low-quality foam that is typically reserved for protecting items in storage or during transportation, packaging and shipping, arts and crafts, and other recreational applications.
• Rebond Foam: Too firm for sofa cushions. Resilient and durable foam, making it ideal for carpet padding, motorcycle seats, and other high-usage applications.
• Memory Foam Premium, Standard, Light, Gel-Infused: Typically reserved for mattresses. Can be used in cushions as a thin top layer laminated to a firmer base layer. Excellent quality foam that is often used in foam mattresses because of its pressure relief.
• Charcoal Foam, Charcoal Foam Light: Not designed for furniture cushions. Often used for packing and shipping, foam insert for cases, acoustical damping, and more. A grade above Charcoal Light Foam.
