These bean bag pellets are made of Expanded Virgin PolyStyrene (EPS) beads and are 20% denser than other beads on the market. PolyStyrene is the same material you would find in disposable coffee cups and cushioning material in package shipments. Virgin beads are of a higher quality bead than recycled and will last longer. They look and feel like Styrofoam and are lightweight and firm. EPS beads are more resistant to degradation than other fill types because they are moisture resistant. They are also heat-insulating, making these beads one of the most comfortable on the market.

When these bean bag pellets need to be replaced, they can be recycled at a regional recycling center or reused. Common uses for bean bag pellets are soil filler for potted plants. They can be used in pillows, dolls, decorations, bet beds, cornhole bags, and many other decorative uses.

It is difficult to recommend how many bags you would need for your bean bag but 1-2 bags should be enough for most users at 3.89 cubic feet per bag. That should fill an adult-sized bean bag.

Recycled vs. Virgin Beads

While they look similar, there are some differences between these two beads. Virgin beads have a round and smooth shape that allows them to shift around in the bean bag when sat upon. This makes sitting on the bean bag more comfortable. They are also more durable than recycled beads.

Recycled beads are grounded particles. They have irregular shapes and are less durable than virgin beads.
