Which foam should I use for my L-cushion?
L-Cushion shapes are primarily used for end-cushions on sofas, either on the right and/or the left. An L-Cushion shape is meant to wrap around the front of an arm extending the front width of the cushion.
There are many different foam types, densities, and firmnesses to choose from for cushions. The first thing to consider is the application. What is the foam’s purpose? If it is for furniture that receives occasional use, lower grade foam such as industrial grade High-Density foam would be a cost-effective option. If the foam insert is for the family room that gets a lot of use, then High Resilience foam is the best foam option.
Weight is also important to consider. The heavier the individual, the firmer the foam should be. The industry standard is a medium-firm firmness. People weighing 200 pounds or more should choose a firmer option so the foam can support the weight and not bottom out.
Recommendation Guideline:
- Industrial Grade: High-Density foam. Ideal for furniture used periodically.
- Good: Lux foam. An upgrade from High-Density foam.
- Excellent: High Resilience foam. Very comfortable and durable.

Tips
Dacron:
T-cushion foam inserts can be wrapped in Dacron to add softness and puffiness to the cushion. It will also add round corners to the edges of the seat cushions. You will also need spray adhesive to glue the Dacron to the foam.
