Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a foam cylinder with a hole cut through the center?
Yes, you can. Simply enter the desired diameter of the foam cylinder and the desired length of the foam cylinder and place the foam cylinder into your cart. Once the foam cylinder is ordered, follow up with an email requesting the foam cylinder cut out from the center in the desired diameter. There is a limitation of a 3-quarter inch minimum on the size of the hole that is cut out of the center of the foam cylinder.
How are cylinder foam holes produced?
There is a two-step process to achieve this. First, the foam is cut into a square in the length of the requested foam cylinder. The foam square is then moved to the foam cylinder saw where it is cut into cylinder-shaped pillows. By spinning the foam square, the outside is cut into cylinder-shaped pillows. The same saw is now ready to cut the interior hole. The foam saw enters the side of the cylinder, moving to the center. The cylinder saw cuts the interior diameter and then exits in the same location as the entrance. This produces the end product of a foam cylinder that has a rounded diameter on the outside and a rounded diameter on the inside.
What are foam cylinders used for?
Foam cylinders are commonly used for back bolsters, providing lumbar support. They are also used on the sides of sofas as an armrest foam bolster. One of the more common uses of a cylinder is a headrest, sitting underneath the neck area. Foam cylinders are also used to support the legs by placing the foam cylinder underneath the legs and taking pressure off of the lower extremities.
