CertiPUR-US® is a nonprofit certification program that tests, analyses, and evaluates the safety and performance of foam products. When a foam product carries the CertiPUR-US® certification, it means that the foam has been independently tested for performance, durability, emissions, contact, and environmental innovation.

CertiPUR-US® certified materials are analyzed by independent, accredited testing laboratories and have to pass rigorous requirements to meet the standards of certification. To achieve CertiPUR-US® certification, materials must meet the following requirements:

  • Made without formaldehyde
  • Made without ozone depleters
  • Made without prohibited phthalates
  • Made without mercury, lead, and other heavy metals
  • Low emission (low VOCs)
  • Screened for relevant chemicals, including flame retardants, that are classified as carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxins and are harmful to human health
